When Sarah Palin talks about education policy, she often starts with her family. Her parents came to Alaska in 1964 to teach school in Skagway, then later taught in Anchorage and the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, where they still substitute in classrooms. Her sister and brother have worked in schools too. Today, three of Palin’s four children attend public school in the Valley.
